IV of Wands

Last night's full moon was beautiful and kind'a crazy! The energy in this house was unhinged (particularly with the kiddo and animals). Needless to say, there wasn't much sleep to be had (at least by us adults, much to our chagrin).

Today's card is the IV of Wands, a card that suggests stability and passionate creativity. The traditional RWS representation shows a canopy hoisted on four wands, indicating a celebration (wedding, party, rave perhaps?) of some sorts, and you are being invited to join in. Different decks provide different insights - which is why I love to include different representations. Love the passionate embrace of our middle image.

Message of the Day: As we age and take on the burdenous mantle of adulthood, we peel away the parts of ourselves that made us children and replace them with responsibility and vices. I think our culture is fighting this to some degree as we see this strong wave of nostalgia and reboots of our childhood loves - but really, our inner child is largely stifled and smashed into a whatever room is left after we "grow up."

This totally reminds me of "The Little Prince" and how he's perturbed by the adults always minding to "matters of consequence."

The IV of Wands is telling me loudly that this is invitation to stop the dance of adulthood and PLAY; join the celebration of our inner child and who we used to be. When was the last time you used your imagination and sat to do something just for the sake of doing it - not necessarily productive, maybe it's messy, maybe it's a "waste of time" when looked at through the lens of an adult. But I bet anything it will make you feel better than that bottle of wine or that bowl you smoked.

There is obviously a time and place for everything. But when we neglect the light part of ourselves, we live a heavy, inflexible existence that ends up being treated with medication (self-medicating or prescribed). So take the time over the holidays to be with yourself and "play." Play a video game. Do a puzzle. Build something with Lego. Re-enact Les Misérables with your kids action figures. You'll find yourself in a better place, a better mood, for doing it.
