Today is my birthday. I'm not thrilled at the prospect of adding another notch in my already well-notched belt. But so it is. What can you do. Maybe that's why we got the IX of Wands today. Am I defensive about turning <cough>? Hell, yes, I am. My mind still feels 21. My body feels 55 (but at least my skin still looks 35, thanks to avoiding the sun like the plague and living in an almost-swamp).
So yes, today's card - the IX of Wands. It's normally about being a bit worn down and on the defensive, making your stand, but also still looking over your shoulder. Maybe waiting for the other shoe to drop. But it's also the nine in the journey of Wands, which indicates the battle is almost over (ten being the culmination of the journey).
Message of the Day: Have you noticed as people get older, they get more crotchety and less amiable? Now that I have a kid, I completely get it. But more than that, it seems like people just begin to tire of the bullshit that's going around. Who has the time for that? They just want to work on their car or knit or watch their stories. Yes, yes, and yes. Do it! Werk! I feel you!
This card to me is about looking in my basket and counting the number of fucks I'm carrying and how many I feel inclined to give (that number may vary on a daily basis). Is there a reason to be defensive and irritated about something? Am I really affected by someone else's opinion? NOPE. Dropped that fuck a few blocks back. Am I triggered by the deplorable bumper sticker on the car in front of me? (Let me think on that for a second...) NO! (But they may get a dramatically embellished eye roll and intense judgement on my part.) Dropped that one with the election results!
So - how thick is your skin? Are you bothered by your child showing you another ASMR video or rambling on about Roblox or Pokémon? Anxiously awaiting politics at the dinner table during Christmas dinner? RELAX. Take it in stride. Water off a duck's back, as they say (I don't know who actually says that, but there you go). Step aside and let it go.
Now. Get back to your needle point. Days of Our Lives is almost on.
