The Magician
Day two of the new ADHD medication for the kiddo. Send us all the positive vibes and energy that this will be a good fit.
Today's card: The Magician, the first numbered card (not counting the Fool who is 0) in Tarot. Traditionally, The Magician is the grand creator. He channels energy from the ethos and funnels it to the material realm, a true master of both the spiritual and material world. He is ground zero for creativity and manifesting talent. But at the root of it all, The Magician is about change.
The Magician is also considered "The Divine Masculine" in the Tarot (countered by card no. 2, The High Priestess, "The Divine Feminine"). You could say he's got that "big dick energy." Yes, he has that unshakable confidence in his abilities, but he also has a wand (in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck) that is incredibly phallic, and he throws it around like he's ready and willing to work.
Message of the Day: Today is all about that "big dick energy" of The Magician. Be loud. Be creative. Show your colors and confidence, even if you don't have a dick (or a big one at that).
When I think about The Magician, I think about his role in Tarot as not only a creator, but also as someone who has the ability to transform and change things, like alchemy, but on a personal level. Maybe we're not changing lead into gold - Maybe we're changing a negative behavior from something that is harmful or self-serving to something that is healthy and outward-facing. This card shows you that you have the ability to make the changes you need if you have the desire to do it.
This is a concept I am discussing with my son on a seemingly daily basis. I try to emphasize the importance of being mindful and making purposeful choices that will have a positive outcome instead of being guided by anger, frustration, and malice. In a sense, I am channeling The Magician myself, trying to encourage change in something chaotic. I have to remember that I AM having an influence and making change, even if it isn't obvious at the surface level. What I am doing will make a difference in the long run.
Another part of The Magician is about using our own abilities and talents to improve our own circumstances and effect change. The energy is there (big dick or not) and the question, really, is whether you are willing to use what you have to create something new and worthwhile. Particularly while we are celebrating a new year (and a new Chinese new year on January 22!), the opportunity and desire to create and make change is hot and fresh.
So today's message: what skills and talents do you have that you can use to bring about positive change in your life? Are these abilities something you can build and grow with practice? The Magician encourages you to grab today (this week, this month, this year) by the balls and make it your bitch (but it in a kind, gentle and positive way!). Show it who you are and what you bring to the table. Create your own magic and show the Universe how powerful you are in your own right.
