The High Priestess as a Parent
The High Priestess reminds us that we often have the answers within. As parents, trusting our intuition, cultivating deeper connections, and creating sacred spaces can help guide our children with wisdom and balance.

The High Priestess can be a powerful and positive card that is great at reminding us that sometimes we already have the answers - or at least have access to them; we just need to look and listen. It can be easy to become emotionally overwhelmed because of the stress of a given situation. The High Priestess serves as a reminder to be balanced and calm, paying attention to your intuition to help guide you through.
Here are some ways we can better embrace the nature of The High Priestess as parents:
Trust Your Hunches
As we know, The High Priestess is often associated with intuition and inner knowing. As parents, we can learn to trust our "gut feelings" and instincts and tap into our innate wisdom when making decisions for our children. A big part of that is learning to trust yourself. Reflect on moments when you've felt a strong intuitive pull as a parent and think about how listening to that inner voice has influenced your parental decision-making.
Cultivate a Deep Connection
Just as the High Priestess bridges the realms of light and shadow, we can create a deep connection with our children that goes beyond superficial interactions and daily routines. Look for ways to foster open communication, active listening, and empathy to reinforce your relationship. Try to talk to them on their level and consciously ask open-ended questions to get them to respond with more than 1-word answers. The more you can get them to discuss their feelings and thoughts, the easier and more comfortable it will be for them as they grow older. Remember as well, children want to hear from you as well; it is not a one-sided conversation. Allow them to see your age-appropriate joys, anxieties, and fears. This will allow them to relate and experience a broader range of emotional interpersonal feelings.
Honor the Sacredness of Parenthood
The High Priestess embodies mystery and sacred knowledge which can remind us of the profound significance of parenthood. It's so easy to forget that these little people are human beings with their own thoughts, feelings, desires, and needs, and ultimately are both part of and separate from you. Reflect on the spiritual aspects of parenting and how moments of awe, wonder, and gratitude shape our experience as parents.
Create a Sacred Space
As mentioned in our first post about The High Priestess, they are often depicted sitting between two pillars, symbolizing the gateway to deeper understanding. Consider how you can create a sacred space in your home where your family can engage in rituals, meditation, prayer, or quiet reflection to nurture spiritual connection and growth, but individually and as a family.
Questions to Ask Yourself that Reflect The High Priestess
Here are a few questions for self-reflection when you draw The High Priestess in your daily or situational practice:
- What intuitive insights have I been receiving lately, and how can I take action on those insights?
- In what areas of my life do I need to consider my inner wisdom and intuition as a source of knowledge?
- How can I create sacred space for quiet reflection and introspection in my daily routine?
- What dreams or intuitive hunches have I been experiencing, and what messages might they hold for me?
- How can I embrace the Divine Feminine qualities of receptivity, intuition, and nurturing in my interactions with others?
- What guidance or insights should I seek from within myself before seeking external validation or advice?
